Fitting Soft Close to Doors - Aligned Wheels

Follow our guide on how to fit sliding wardrobe doors for simple home assembly.

To fit your sliding doors, you’ll need a screwdriver and an allen key, as well as the screws and washers which are included in the pack.

If the top guide wheels on the door are in line, follow the steps below. If not, see the guide on fitting staggered wheels further down the page.

  1. Fit both parts of the soft close together, inserting and tightening the nuts and bolts on both sides. Ensure the mechanism is facing in the correct direction of the door closing Then, insert two of the screws using the washers provided but do not fully tighten them.

  2. Using the centre of the top rail as a guide, align and centre the soft close, then slot the cams into the gap of the top rail.

  3. With an allen key, lock both of the cams into place. Check that the soft close doesn’t slide, but be careful not to over tighten it.

  4. To prime the soft close, slide the nib all the way across until you hear a click. Make sure that a 20mm gap is left between the unit and the top guide wheels, allowing the wheels to move freely.

  5. Transfer the indicator mark from the soft close unit onto the door with a pencil, used later to align the soft close pin.

  6. Next, assemble the soft close pin by aligning the steel plate to the plastic base. Insert the screw and tighten with an allen key.

Fitting Soft Close to Doors - Staggered Wheels

  1. Fit both parts of the soft close together, inserting and tightening the nuts and bolts on both sides. Ensure the mechanism is facing in the correct direction of the door closing. Then, insert two of the screws using the washers provided but do not fully tighten them.

  2. Carefully remove the backing from one side of double sided tape and stick it to the bottom of the soft close — it’s important to ensure that the backing has been removed before it is applied to the door.

  3. Carefully align the housing on the soft close with the tab on the top guide. Secure the soft close to the top edge by sticking it firmly down, ensuring that the slot is fixed to the tab. Ensure the soft close unit is parallel with the door.

  4. With the soft close parallel to the door, fix it in place with two of the screws provided, inserted into the holes in the top guide tab.

  5. Next, prime the soft close by sliding the nib all the way across until it clicks into place.

  6. Use a pencil to make an indicator mark on the door from the soft close unit to align the soft close pin later.

  7. Assemble the soft close pin by aligning the steel plate with the plastic base. Insert the screw and use an allen key to tighten.
