Four steps to the perfect mirror selfie

Monday 07th August 2017

Taking the perfect mirror selfie is a struggle that we have all endured at some point or another – whether it be due to poor lighting, not being able to stretch the camera far enough away, or because your mirror cuts you off in an unflattering place. If you find yourself spending ages taking and deleting pictures to get the shot you want, then follow these four simple steps for your perfect mirror selfie…
Selfie
  1. First things first, invest in a decent full-length mirror.  Forget feature mirrors which are sectioned or spaced out for a dramatic effect, as these will only omit sections of your body or outfit.  Why not go the extra mile and get a dramatic floor-to-ceiling mirror?  A Spaceslide mirrored sliding wardrobe door is the perfect multi-use piece of equipment which will not only help deliver an amazing selfie (especially in Bronze Mirror for an instant tan!), but also conceal all your clothing cleverly behind the sleek doors. In addition, it will refract light around your room to give you the perfect lighting for the photo, and equally help give the illusion that your room is larger than it actually is!Bedroom
  2. Secondly, make sure that your bedroom is clean and tidy; you want your friends to focus on you in your picture, not your floordrobe!  A minimalist approach to your bedroom is best.  Have a quick scan of your room for the obvious and easy fixes, i.e. is the bed made; are surfaces clutter-free?  Cleverly conceal all your possessions behind sliding doors or within deep drawer units.  This way, you’ll have an elegant backdrop that will keep the focus on you.  Remember, your room says a lot about the type of person you are – and a minimalist style will help keep your bedroom a serene space to rest and sleep in.Blush Wardrobe
  3. Next, position your camera just higher than your eyes, at a slight angle (depending on whether you prefer your left profile or right) with your arm stretched out.  This will allow you to get the right balance of light and ensure that you’re not too close to the camera.  It may take a bit of practice to find the best angle for you – but experiment until you find your signature shot – then there’ll be no stopping you.  Or, if you’re looking for that more relaxed and off-guard selfie look, then just have fun with it!Mirror Selfie
  4. Finally, relax and try to exude confidence.  There’s no point in taking a selfie if you don’t enjoy the process as this will only transmit to your facial expression and body tension.  Whether you’re smiling or pouting, you’ve got to get that sparkle in your eyes and let your personality shine through.
