10 items for the perfect capsule wardrobe

In this week’s blog, we look at those essential, must-have items you need to create your very own capsule wardrobe.

You’d be forgiven for thinking it was Gok Wan in his 2008 TV show, Gok’s Fashion Fix, who first brought us the concept of the ‘capsule wardrobe’ – however the term was coined long before that in the seventies by fashion boutique owner, Susie Faux.

She explained it as the essential items of clothing that would remain stylish – no matter what the season, no matter what the year.  Whilst the items within the capsule wardrobe happily complement each other, it’s up to you what ad hoc, on trend items you add from time to time.

Here are 10 essentials you may wish to consider for your perfect capsule wardrobe:-

1. White shirt

The RL Cotton Boyfriend Shirt from Ralph Lauren: “In crisp cotton poplin, this button-down channels a borrowed-from-the-boys vibe with feminine flair. Style it with dark-wash denim and an armful of bangles for off-duty days.”

2. T-shirt

The Modern crew tee from Gap: “A cotton-modal blend of softest Supima® cotton and modal knit that drapes perfectly, hits below the hips and crates a slim silhouette.”

 3. Jeans
